Digital Terrain Model (DTM)

Bare-Earth Terrain Analysis – Kiulap, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium & Brunei International Airport

This simulation showcases a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) derived from processed LiDAR data, representing the underlying ground surface with buildings, vegetation, and other structures removed. By isolating the natural terrain, the DTM provides a clear view of elevation changes, slopes, and drainage patterns across the selected areas of interest including Kiulap, the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium precinct, and Brunei International Airport.

Such terrain models are essential for urban planning, infrastructure development, and environmental analysis, enabling engineers and planners to better understand ground conditions before project deployment. In complex urban and operational environments, DTM data supports terrain evaluation, drainage planning, and site feasibility assessments by providing an accurate digital representation of the landscape.

Digital Surface Model (DSM)

3D Surface Representation of Urban Infrastructure

The Digital Surface Model (DSM) visualisation presents the elevation of the Earth's surface including buildings, vegetation, and other structures captured during LiDAR acquisition. Unlike the DTM, the DSM preserves all above-ground features, allowing users to visualise the full three-dimensional structure of the environment.

Within the areas of interest such as Kiulap, the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium complex, and Brunei International Airport, the DSM highlights the spatial relationship between terrain and built infrastructure. This dataset is particularly valuable for planning, urban analysis, and infrastructure studies where understanding building heights, structural profiles, and surrounding features is important for decision-making and project design.

LiDAR Point Cloud Elevation Model

High-Density 3D Geospatial Data Visualisation

The LiDAR point cloud visualisation represents the raw three-dimensional dataset from which terrain and surface models are generated. Composed of millions of georeferenced elevation points, the dataset captures the physical structure of the environment in high detail across Kiulap, the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium area, and Brunei International Airport.

By visualising elevation through colour-coded point clouds, users can observe variations in terrain, building heights, and landscape features within a fully interactive 3D environment. This foundational dataset enables advanced geospatial processing, spatial measurements, and infrastructure analysis, supporting applications ranging from urban planning and engineering studies to digital environment modelling.
